This year we are challenging you to buy one more gift for someone you don’t know and bring health and hope to families in Myanmar.
Baby Blanket $5 - How special it is for a new mum to be able to wrap her baby in a fresh brand-new blanket. When you buy just one more $5 gift this Christmas it will mean a new mum can wrap her baby in warmth and love.
Adult Blanket $6 - The gift of a blanket will help keep a family in Myanmar warm at night during the cooler months. Take up our Christmas challenge and buy one more gift for someone you don’t know.
Mosquito Net $8 - As children under 5 are the most vulnerable group affected by malaria (WHO), mosquito nets are one of the most important ways to protect against malaria and other mosquito borne diseases. By buying one more $8 gift this Christmas you will give a family a large mosquito net. Help us, help families by donating today.
Box of Masks $10 - We don’t go anywhere without one now! Help make this also the reality for someone in Myanmar by gifting them a box of masks this Christmas.
COVID PPE $12 - A face shield, mask, gloves, gown and sanitiser will help protect a health worker as they treat patients visiting the clinic. Can you add one more $12 gift to your Christmas shopping list this year?
Emergency Food Pack $20 - Since the coup in February the value of the Myanmar kyat has fallen to an all-time low. This makes the purchase of basic food impossible for many. The United Nations World Food Program warns that up to 3.4 million more people in Myanmar could go hungry in the coming months. This Christmas you can put rice, noodles, oil and a few vegies into the kitchen of a vulnerable family.
Pinard Fetal Stethoscope $25 - The classic tool of a midwife! Can you buy one more gift for a midwife you don’t know, who lives in the jungles of Myanmar?
Birthing Kit $30 - Includes plastic sheet, scissors, cord clamp, kidney dish, sutures, gauze. The essentials for a local midwife working in a remote village. Buy one more gift and bless a midwife this Christmas!
Non Contact Thermometer $40 - Since COVID, a non-contact thermometer has replaced the traditional thermometer. By taking part in our Christmas challenge, you can provide a health care worker with this much needed piece of equipment.
Baby Resus Equipment $50 - Staff and students are regularly trained in a course called Helping Babies Breathe. A gift of $50 can purchase a reusable suction and bag-mask for new-borns that need help to breathe. By taking part in our Christmas challenge today you can help save the life of a baby tomorrow!
Blue Light $55 - Occasionally a baby will suffer from jaundice after it is born. Being able to put them under a blue light for a few days will quicken the absorption of bilirubin from their blood. Can you add one more $55 gift to your shopping list this Christmas?
Patient Transport $60 - Sometimes patients need to be referred from the clinic to a specialist hospital. Your $60 Christmas challenge gift will help cover the cost of transporting a patient to and from the hospital.
Meds for Midwives $100 - Oxytocin is a medication that is sometimes given to strengthen uterine contractions or control bleeding after birth. Your Christmas Challenge gift of $100 will equip a rural midwife with enough oxytocin and other medicines to last about 4 months.
C- Section $150 - Having to pay for a c-section can put a family into long term debt so one of the services provided by our Maternal Health Program is to cover this cost when needed.
Vacum Delivery Kit $180 - This very special gift will be an asset for a midwife when faced with a difficult delivery. Can you add one more gift this year to your Christmas shopping list?
Patient Transport $200 - Patient transport is a real challenge in the remote areas of Myanmar. Often a hammock is strung on a bamboo pole and the patient carried through the jungle, over mountains and across rivers before reaching a road where they are met by a vehicle to take them the rest of the way to the T’RAD clinic. Your Christmas challenge gift of $200 will help to cover the transport of a patient from the jungle to the clinic.
6 Months Supply of Milk Powder $250 - Sadly, health workers in remote areas come across babies who have lost their mothers during or soon after birth. Our project is able to supply these babies with high quality milk powder, bottles, and training in how to prepare the formula safely. This Christmas gift will not only last for months but will ensure that the child gets a good start to their life.
Hep B Treatment $260 - The maternal health-care team are running a special program from the jungle clinic to identify and then target mothers who have Hepatitis B. These mothers have a 70-90% chance of passing the virus onto their babies. Your gift of $260 will mean the baby can receive Immunoglobulin soon after it is born, followed by a series of 3 vaccines to prevent it from contracting this deadly disease. One more gift this Christmas can save a life!
These gifts represent some of the equipment and services needed to run our programs in Myanmar. If a particular gift is oversubscribed your donation will be used to support a similar area of need.
